Frugal Plant-Based Meals

We started off sharing what we made for brunch.  We then watched clips from the documentary "Touching the Wild."  The narrator shared his experiences from living with a herd of mule deer, including their ritualsencounters, and a reunion.

 

To help with the upcoming holidays, we demoed a staple: homemade

vegan cheese.

We started off sharing what we made for brunch. We then watched portions of these video: a food study, Vegucated documentary, How Not to Die from Heart Disease (license), and a Scene from Forks Over Knives. We finished with a demo of carob ganache.

Frinklepod Farm

Flora from Frinklepod Farm provided a virtual tour of their farm. She also spent time with us answering questions on gardening and cooking with what’s in season.

Anya from Environment  Maine dropped by to talk about the amazing work they’re doing for the No Bees No Food campaign.

Crispy Bacon

We walked through a live demo of how to make a crispy vegan bacon (Recipe & Demo). Participants were encouraged to follow along in their own kitchens.

 

We also introduced The Someone Project from Farm Sanctuary.

Ocean Conservation

Angela talked about conserving our oceans. We watched some beautiful footage of oceans and sea life, while she talked about her journey, what she’s learned, and mock

seafood ideas.

Lana shared Vegan Outreach, and how they’re finding great success by changing with the times.

 

We also had a cooking demo using rice paper to make vegan bacon.

“My Life as a Turkey” Documentary

Recipe Book: Butter

We had a cook off - with a couple winners! We also spent time celebrating and learning about turkeys. We watched clips from the documentary “My Life as a Turkey.” The narrator raised a flock of wild turkeys. He introduced how this came about. Then he shared their language, and them playing with other animals.

 

We also made a holiday staple: homemade vegan butter.
